This year we’re spending the holidays in Leipzig, Germany. We decided it would be a smaller round compared to last year when we got both the German and Swedish side together in Fitou.
I like this time of year because for me it represents quiet, cosy days and nights with yummy home cooked food, movies and lots of reading and sleeping.
I don’t really have the panic state or dread that a lot of people associate with the festive times in the month leading up to it. For one, I like giving presents cause I spend a lot of time thinking about what I could make or get that person. Secondly, I don’t give a lot and I think very hard about who I get presents for, if any.
I believe in giving only if you want to and not because it’s mandated or the advertisements tell you to. If I don’t have a good idea, then it’ll be a homemade card rather than buying something random that the other person wouldn’t appreciate anyways. Also, I don’t want to add to their clutter.
In that spirit, within the family, we also decided to do secret santa and my present inspired me to make myself a homemade Christmas jumper with my reindeer.
I hope you all have a wonderful time and enjoy the holidays!
