Four Years Ago Today

just married

Time flies, they say and they are right! It’s been four years I’ve been married to this guy and it genuinely feels like it’s been a lot longer than that.

I guess what makes it feel like well more than it should (only joking) are the many adventures we found ourselves on over the past years. I’ve had to backtrack where we’ve been and what we’ve seen and here are a few highlights. I’m trying not to get too sappy, but there is certainly an “aww” photo at the end of the post, if you feel like skipping all the other carefully curated ones.

So here we go!

At the time, when we got married, we were in the middle of an adventure already. We had been living in Doha, Qatar.

Somehow, we drove on the Bahrain International Circuit. Well, I was mainly the photographer that day and a passenger for a couple of rounds whilst my racer-husband lived his dream. I did see a very beautiful Porsche though.

We were fortunate enough to not only see the Northern Lights once but twice. We had been to Abisko, Sweden, once before and for our one year anniversary, we flew to THE Icehotel. It surely bonds you sleeping amidst reindeer fur and having an employee wake you up with hot lingonberry juice.

Oh and the original Rudoplhs and Dashers and Cupids and so on…

Three years ago, we moved to London, UK, got new jobs, reconnected with old friends and new. After quite a whirlwind of gathering all our things in one place (big moment for me, as my stuff had been spread in boxes across 3 countries for almost 10 years!), we freed up head space and time to go to places and events, like the opening of the new building at the Tate Modern where we witnessed art being transformed by visitors. And no, it was not supposed to be interactive.

Talking about adventures, we sure have been travelling a lot. Mumbai and Japan have been crossed off my wish list last year. I can highly recommend eating Sushi for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day!

Last year, we also almost made it to the top of the highest mountain Kebnekaise in Sweden (darn weather and knees). Though I should also credit the sun being constantly up. Very fascinating experience and makes for less scarier pee breaks in the middle of the night.

Oh and yeah, we bought 2 houses, one of which has been rented out already! We didn’t renovate the first house – have to thank my parents for their passion and desire to keep on tearing down and building things back up. Though, this year, we are going to be much more involved with house number 2. Emptying will start in February. May I just say, if there was smell-o-vision, I would certainly spare you the experience.

That’s it! There is of course more where that came from. Feel free to browse the photos. They give a good glimpse of what we’ve been up to.

If you fancy going down memory lane with me, check out the wedding photos themselves (we had outdoor hot tubs!).

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to high-five my partner-in-crime on 4 years well done!

One thing we know for sure is that we need to empty that stinky house 🙂 and then we’ll see

Happy anniversary my love! I wouldn’t change a single thing on our journey together! Can’t wait to see where it will continue to take us next 🙂
